To understand the brooch is to understand that jewelry, for most of its history, was functional before it was decorative. A brooch held fabric together. It fastened a collar, secured a shawl, closed a bodice. The jeweler's art was to make that function beautiful.
Our brooch collection focuses on Dutch and Flemish Victorian production — a tradition of particular quality, particularly in the use of rosecut and old mine cut diamonds in silver over gold settings.
